Hydrocarbon residues are found in the environment for a range of reasons – from historical activities like gas works and sites where fuel tanks were stored, to ongoing monitoring of current activities that may see fuels and oils moving into the environment.

Using modern Gas Chromatography equipment, Analytica has applied a lot of thought and innovation to the sample collection and testing process to simplify things for the sampler.

Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) – for short chain hydrocarbons Analytica offers the internal standard practice of C6-C9 testing. With C10-C14 and C15-C36 also tested, there is capacity to analyse soil and water for the full range of C6-C36 TPH compounds with a 3 day turnaround time.

Benzene, Toluene, Ethylene, Xylene (BTEX) – the 5 compound BTEX suite for soil and water includes the 2 xylene species m&p-Xylene and o-Xylene.

Partially Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) – our 18 compound suite includes Naphthalene, 2-Methylnaphthalene, 1-Methylnaphthalene, Acenaphthylene, Acenaphthene, Fluorene, Phenanthrene, Anthracene, Fluoranthene, Pyrene, Benz(a)anthracene, Chrysene, Benzo(b)fluoranthene, Benzo(k)fluoranthene, Benzo(a)pyrene, Indeno(1,2,3-cd)pyrene, Dibenz(a,h)anthracene, and Benzo(g,h,i)perylene. Also included are the Benzo(a)pyrene TEQs (Toxic Equivalence Quotient) reported as NEPM, LOR and Zero calculations.

Detection limits for different sample matrices are available on request from our customer support team or these can also be found in our ACE - Analytica Cost Estimate tool.
